Cuba Government has high hopes for Ukraine

The Cuban authorities are counting on the support of the Ukrainian side on the issue of lifting the economic embargo, which was introduced by the United States of America. This was announced by Felix Leon Karbalo, who is the Cuban ambassador to Ukraine, at the next press conference. According to the ambassador, the problem of relations between Cuba and the United States was considered in the next Cuban report, which was recently submitted by the Secretary General of the United Nations. And already on October 28, the UN General Assembly will have to consider the draft annual resolution regarding the need to stop the trade, economic and financial blockade of the United States of America against Cuba. According to the same Karbalo, in 2008 the draft resolution was supported by representatives of 185 of 192 UN states. This year Cuba counts on support from Ukraine. It is worth recalling that the draft resolution dedicated to the withdrawal of the economic blockade, Cuba offers the UN General Assembly for consideration for a long 18 years. However, reconciliation does not occur. The reason for this, according to the Cuban Ambassador in Ukraine, is «a lack of will from the authorities of the United States of America».Based on the next report of Cuba, the economy of the island as a result of the embargo incurred losses of more than 96 billion dollars. The hardest things were such areas as healthcare, food industry and high technology sphere. The trade and economic embargo was introduced by the United States of America 47 years ago. And since then, all American companies, as well as foreign enterprises with trade relations with the United States and leading trading with Cuba, are required to pay impressive fines. This measure has power at the legislative level and is carried out in accordance with the law, which has an awesome name «On conducting trade with the enemy».Despite numerous attempts by Cuba to reconcile, on September 14 of this year, the United States extended the embargo for another year.
