And today, fifty years after the defeat on Plai-Hirona, the Cuban veterans of the legendary events of 1961 confidently say that they are now ready to fight the enemies of the Cuban Revolution to death. Recall that on April 17, 1961, the Cubans who left their homeland after the victory of the revolution made an attempt from the south to invade the island and occupy a section of the beach located 300 kilometers from Havana on Plai Hyron, to form a temporary government and wait for recognition as the world community, as well as internal support. The operation failed, despite the fact that the detachments were trained and prepared at the expense of the United States of America. In literally 72 hours, the interventions were defeated. More than a hundred invaders were destroyed, and a thousand two hundred were captured. The forces of the revolution of more than 150 people lost killed. They captured a large number of ammunition. Currently, Plaia-Larga and Plai-Hyron (the places where the invaders landed)-a comfortable resort area on which hotels, tourist base and diving points are located. But half a century ago, these beaches were literally shook from explosions and human crying. Twenty years were Salvador Renova, when he, along with his comrades, fell on April 17, 1961 under the bombing of American aircraft. He said that people literally turned into a torch. Many of them tried to find salvation in the sea, but immediately after they were on the shore, they light up again. It was a lastnockmark. Lightly charred people. Today in the Museum of the Events of Playa Hyron, you can see weapons of interventionists, fragments of a downed American aircraft, captured tanks and other weapons. At the entrance to the museum, the Cuban weapons of those years are represented, namely, a screw aircraft and heavy weapons.
