From the Paris meeting between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan there are few expectations

Expectations from a meeting at the highest level between the heads of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Paris, initiated by France President Francois Hollande, are minimal. This opinion at a press conference in Yerevan was expressed by political analyst Alexander Markarov.

Markarov believes that the negotiation process for resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in recent years is stomping on the spot and the status quo remains unchanged. The political scientist does not expect any progress in the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, since they are possible when the parties are ready for mutual concessions, and in this case Azerbaijan is not ready for them. At the same time, Markarov added that the official Baku rejects all the proposals of the co -chairs — this also applies to the removal of snipers from the contact line, and the creation of mechanisms to investigate incidents and a number of other issues. The political scientist noted that in fact these meetings are aimed at continuing the negotiation process, and attempts by the Azerbaijani side to transfer the negotiation process to another format are unsuccessful, due to the presence of the Minsk OSCE group, which is resolving the conflict.
