How to install plastic windows in winter: what to take into account

Most of the customers believe that in the winter months it makes no sense to install plastic windows. It is believed that this entails problems due to poor thermal insulation of the seams. There really was such a drawback, but modern means allow to eliminate this minus. For good thermal insulation of the seams between the wall and windows, it is necessary to lay a layer of mounting foam. In the event that you use a regular foam in the cold, it will harden poorly, it can leak, and also become fragile and crumble. Subsequently, the wind will blow out such windows.

Winter foam for plastic windows

Fortunately, this problem is solved by manufacturers — they produce special winter foam for various temperature modes. Buy the highest quality foam, it’s better not to save on this. There are two types of winter foam: for installation up to -10 ′ and installation up to -18 ′. The seam is filled with foam from the room, in place of this seam, warm air from the room is connected to cold air from the street. Thus, the foam hardens at a temperature that is slightly higher than street. This is relevant, in particular, for the installation of balcony blocks remote from the street by means of loggia or balcony. This means that the windows can be installed at a temperature of up to -20 ′.

If you ordered plastic windows, and on the day of installation, the temperature dropped below -20 ′, the installation should be transferred to another next day, when it warms up a little.

Otherwise, installing plastic windows in winter is no more difficult than in the summer months.
