During the construction and repair of communications, thermal insulation of pipelines is required. Its use is due to the need to protect the pipes of hot water supply, heating and steam pipelines from heat loss into the external environment. In a conventional metal pipe, heat loss can reach 30% and the only way to sharply reduce them is the thermal insulation of pipelines. Cold water pipes, especially located in unheated rooms, must also be isolated from the external environment, to prevent freezing.
Isolation of pipelines is possible in the following ways:
Installation of finished pipes of PPU (isolated by polyurethane foam). They are distinguished by durability (up to 25 years), the possibility of laying in the ground, good thermal insulation (heat loss not more than 2%);
Pipe covering with insulating materials in the form of tubes or rolls. They are produced under different brands and most often consist of foamed polyethylene foam. It differs in simplicity of installation.
Thermal insulation of pipelines from mineral or stone wool cylinders. Well suited for pipes with cold water, fireproof, and can be covered with a layer of foil for better thermal protection.
The joints of the insulation should be minimal and carefully strengthened by bandages.
