The roof can be insulated using different materials, but the most practical and affordable of them is foam. The features of its application depend on which type of roof are dealing. A single -toe roof is insulated from the outside. In this case, the sheets (or slabs) of the foam are used. When working with a gable roof, this option is inappropriate. In this case, insulation is used by foam from the inside.
To insulate the roof outside, it is necessary to prepare foam sheets with a thickness of 70 mm. Regardless of which area it is required to cover, it is better to buy more material, because when working, the foam breaks too easily. 6 additional plates will be enough. Waterproofing is laid under the surface of foam. The edges of the plates should be adjacent to each other as tightly as possible. The seams are closed with mounting foam to avoid leaks (in the case of external insulation, this is incredibly important).
In the case of internal insulation, the foam is laid between the rafters. The inner surface before laying foam should be covered with a waterproofing film. To attach foam, glue or special dowels are used. You can also use rails that press the material to the surface and nailed to the rafters of the roof frame.
