In the Tbilisi National Exhibition Center «Expo-Georgia» last week was held by the Armenian-Georgian business forum, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Armenia and Georgia.
Representatives of more than 50 domestic companies specializing in tourism, investment, construction, agricultural, transport and other fields took part in the Armenian side in the forum. As the head of the press service of the CCI of Armenia, Sarukhanyan, the searches for new partners, the expansion of their business in the local market, emphasized-these were the interests of Armenian entrepreneurs in Georgia.
Opening the event, vice-president, Minister of Economics and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Georgy Kvirikashvili paid tribute to the centuries of Armenian entrepreneurs in Georgia, emphasizing the importance of activating trade and economic cooperation of the two countries at present. As if in the continuation of the topic, President of the RA CCI, deputy of the Armenian Parliament Martin Sargsyan made a small “historical excursion”, telling about the contribution of Armenian entrepreneurs, science and culture figures to the life of a friendly state.
Speaking about today’s trade and economic relations of the two countries, m. Sargisyan noted that Armenia is one of the ten main trading partners of Georgia, and the foreign trade turnover of the neighboring republic with our country in eight months of this year amounted to $ 297 million. «The lion’s share of our economic relations,» emphasized m. Sargisyan — falls on transit trade. Approximately 70% of our turnover is carried out through the territory of Georgia, for which, as for any transit country, this brings a significant replenishment to the state treasury «.
Forum participants provided information on the economic situation and investment capabilities of Armenia and Georgia. The Armenian part of the presentation was held by the director of the Armenian Development Agency Robert Harutyunyan, who also spoke about the transformations in the legislation that contribute to the successful conduct of business. Armenian participants in the business forum presented their enterprises, acquainted Georgian colleagues with their capabilities and offers. Talked about achievements and successes in the field of high technology, some of which are already used in Georgia.
In particular, the president of the Barva Innovation Center Aram Vardanyan caused a smile of distrust of those present, saying that the predicted heavy rain, which could ruin the celebrations on the occasion of the Independence Center Day, was successfully “canceled”. Within the framework of the forum, negotiations of the entrepreneurs of the two countries were held in the format «Bi Tu Bi», which became a great opportunity to revive old ties and establish new ones, as well as outline joint projects. The organizers and participants of the forum praised the effectiveness of such events, and the head of the Armenian delegation m. Sargisyan expressed his readiness to make such meetings traditional.
